Homemade Play dough

So this week we've made some home made play dough for the boys to play with. Much to my surprise everyone including my mom and sister ended up playing with. This was my first time making play dough and I was going to do a double patch to make more colors but I didn't have enough cream of tartar. After I go to the store tomorrow I will  make some more and update this post with the new colors. I will also take pics of each step as I do them and add them to the bottom of the post in order.

What you will need..
1 cup water
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
Food coloring

Directions

  • Combine water, flour , oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan and heat until warm
  • Stir, then knead until smooth. The cream of tartar makes this dough last 6 months or longer, so resist the temptation to omit this ingredient if you don't have it on hand.
  • Store this dough in an airtight container or a Ziploc freezer bag.

  • Also Eli (14 months ) only tried to eat this once and after he tasted it he took it out of his month and said yucky so I don't have to worry about him trying to eat it again ( I hope )

After it was cooked I put it on a pizza  pan to cool

After it cooled I made the dough  into 1/4. After that I made them  into  little  balls  and  pushed  a hole into the middle.
Then I dropped the food coloring into the holes.

    All closed up.

My mom couldn't wait to see what colors I did and started playing with it to spread the  food  coloring  around.

    Neon Pink

    Neon Purple
    Neon Green

Neon Blue ( it didn't want to spread evenly like the other but it's super blue )

    Blueberry smoothie

For blue week I've also been trying to get blue things for the boy to eat so we made blueberry smoothies

    What we used.
Frozen Blueberries ( You can use fresh )
Plain fat free yogurt ( You can also use vanilla )
    2% milk
    ice
sugar ( We only used alittle bit)
Then you just blend it up
    :) Healthy and super yummy

Okay so it's not really blue but you get the point.

    Inside Blue sensory bin

I'm still learning to do sensory bins so this one isn't the best I've done. Eli ( 14 months )
still had a lot of fun with it.

    What I used.
Blue rice ( You an see how I made it  Here )
Aqua beads ( I got mine from Dollar Tree )
    Plastic toys
    Cookie cutters
    Sponges
    Rubber ducks
    plastic ball

This is a Aqua bead they are clear when you buy them but you can let them soak in  water  mixed with food coloring to  color them like I did.

Also if you get the rice wet the coloring will come off and stain.

    Blue water sensory bin

I took Eli (14 months ) and Ray ( 10 years ) out to play on Tuesday the 19th because it was a very nice day out and I wanted them to get some sun instead of being stuck inside all day.
I made this pretty cool Blue water sensory bin for them to play with and they loved it.

    What I used.
Water dyed blue with food coloring
    Blue plastic toys
Blue fish tank rocks ( I got mine from Dollar Tree )
Cookie cutters ( from the $1 part of Target )
    Blocks
    sponges

The boys spent over 30mins playing with this and yes Eli had to get in the water haha it was okay.
They used the sponges to make water marks on the side walk. We also took out some bubbles and played with those about another 30mins.

We did this before they got dressed for the day so yes they are in night clothes

    Color Weeks. Blue week

This week is blue week in our house. I got together a cool blue sensory bin for Eli (14month) which I will take a pic of later once he is done breast feeding. We also had a really awesome blue bath tonight and we even went over some shaped I drew on he wall in blue bath paint. Eli even said Circle and Triangle and Blue which sounded like glue haha.

I ran the water then added some blue food coloring. I also added as many blue bath tub  safe toys I could find
    within a couple mins.

See the shaped? I was so proud of him for saying the shapes name with me . He even pointed to the circle.

He was rubbing the stuff on the walls.
He was all smiles the whole bath.

It's so hard to get clear pics with this boy. He jut loves to move around
That's all I have for now but I will keep updating till this week is over...

    Greenishblue nails for 10/18/2012

So this is what I have done to my nails this week nothing to dramatic or anything just a simple Green with Blue sparkle :)
I used Wet N Wild Fastdry in 225c sage in the city.
Wet N Wild Fastdry in Clear Top.
Essence Color & Go in ( I can't find the name on the bottle but it's a blueish green color with sparkles)

Now here is what I did to get this look

    1. I did 3 coats of the Sage in the city
    2. 1 coat of Essence on all my fingers
    3. on my ring finger I put another coat of Essence to make it more blue then the others 4. 1 coat of clear I know the lighting is alittle off in the pics but it really is a beautiful color when done :)
